Heat Pumps — Smarter Hot Water with Solar, Batteries & EVs

Cut hot-water costs by using your daytime solar to run a high-efficiency Rheem heat pump. We design residential, commercial and pool systems, integrate timers with your PV/battery, and handle meter/tariff changes and approvals.

Why pair a heat pump with your solar?

Run on sunshine

Use a timer or smart relay so your tank heats during solar hours, reducing grid imports.

3–4× efficient

Heat pumps move heat, not make it — typical COP 3+ slashes energy use vs. resistive elements.

Battery friendly

Shift water heating to the day so your battery is saved for night loads and outage backup.

Lower bills, lower emissions

Hot water is often 25–35% of home energy. Electrify it and power it with PV.

PV & battery integration done right

We coordinate timers, smart relays and hot-water setpoints with your solar/battery so heating occurs during surplus PV. That means lower bills, better battery autonomy at night, and simple control from your inverter app (GoodWe, Sungrow, Fronius) or a dedicated smart switch.

Heat pump — FAQs

How much can a heat pump save compared to electric or gas hot water?
A quality heat pump typically uses 60–75% less electricity than a resistive element and far less energy than gas. With solar-aligned timers, many homes heat water for a few dollars a week.
Will a heat pump be noisy?
Rheem units are designed for quiet operation. We assess placement, airflow and vibration pads to keep noise low and compliant with council guidelines.
Can I run a heat pump from my battery at night?
Yes, but we recommend heating during the day with surplus PV. Your battery is then preserved for night-time appliances and blackout backup.
What maintenance is required?
Minimal: keep the area clear, clean the evaporator coil if dusty, and schedule a service every 1–2 years to check sensors, valves and drain lines.
Do you handle tariffs and approvals?
Yes. We can move you to time-of-use/solar-friendly tariffs, add timers, and provide compliance documentation for plumbing/electrical works.
